If you are a healthcare professional and have a passion for teaching, this online and in-person course is ideal for you to learn in-depth the procedure of phlebotomy and the art of teaching to teach and guide new phlebotomists.

Course Structure

This certification course is delivered in two parts:

Part 1

Online Studying – 28 to 30 Hours (Self-Paced)

  • Begins immediately upon enrollment and payment.
  • Accessible 24/7 through your student dashboard.
  • You will have 12 weeks of access to complete the course at your own pace.
  • Covers essential theory, safety protocols, techniques, and phlebotomy procedures.
  • Must be completed before scheduling the hands-on training.
  • Ends with a final exam—you must pass this to qualify for in-person training.

Part 2

In-Person Hands-On Training – 6 Hours

  • Apply your knowledge in a real-world clinical setting.
  • Practice blood draws and essential phlebotomy techniques under expert supervision.
  • You will choose your preferred training date and time through our scheduling system after passing the final exam.
  • Spots are limited, so early scheduling is encouraged.
  • You may reschedule your hands-on session up to 2 times at no cost.
  • Additional changes after the second reschedule may incur a fee and are subject to availability.

How It Works

1. Enroll in the course to gain immediate access to the online training.
2. Complete the online portion at your own pace within 12 weeks.
3. Pass the final exam with a qualifying score to unlock the next step.
4. Schedule your 6-hour in-person hands-on training on a date that works best for you.
5. Attend the hands-on session to practice and demonstrate your skills in a clinical environment.
6. Receive your Certificate of Completion and an official letter from MedLabTech Academy—required documents to apply for the CPT (Certified Phlebotomy Technician) certification exam.
🔒 Important: You must complete the online training and pass the final exam before attending the in-person session.

Once you pass the exam of semester 2, you are eligible to attend the hands-on training to gain practical experience.

Hands-on Training

Six hours of hands-on training including practicing the procedure of phlebotomy and skin puncture using venipuncture plastic arm.

2. Become a member of the Canadian Phlebotomy Technicians Group Inc.
3. Apply for the Certified Phlebotomy Instructor Certification.
